Digitisation from VHS to Web Video Streaming

Sometimes you may not have the original copy of your video, or a master copy in broadcast format. This section of our site was developed because of the large numbers of requests for digitising a VHS video for use on the internet. We can digitise VHS (digitize VHS for those who prefer the US spelling) if you have VHS tapes to convert. Digital Visual can digitise and encode even VHS video and deliver video files for your website.

At low data rates the picture quality of a video has to be reduced to make the file size of the video small enough to fit through the internet conection cables and arrive at a viewers computer

VHS isn’t famed for it’s picture quality. When we digitise the clip and compress it for use on the web we reduce the picture size, and the the resolution of the image

As we are reducing the size of the image and essentially concentrating the picture into a smaller box, the poor quality VHS image is acceptable for digitising but not ideal. We prefer to have all tapes sent to us in MiniDV format as our machines are set up for this format as standard.
