Email Settings for your Digital Visual Hosting

All webspace and email is set up and configured for you. If you require it we will provide you with a template site free of charge. The template site includes a fully configured feedback form. (example of our feedback form)


Email settings 1

Email Setup for Digital Visual Customers Through Hotchilli (PC only)

As part of your Internet hosting you have access to a hotchilli 'dial up account' that lets you connect to the Internet. This will allow you to use stop using a service such as btinternet or freeserve to connect to the internet from your home/office PC's IF YOU WISH. If you want to use the new hotchilli dial up: Go to section 1.

If you have ADSL or still wish to continue using your existing ISP (An ISP is the company you use to connect to the internet) your new email will still work but you will have to use a few different settings to send email. Go to section 2

If you do not wish to set up an email account on your computer and wish to use 'webmail' an online system to receive messages similar to 'hotmail' Go to section 3

Note: I suggest that if you are travelling outside the UK you check your mail using 'webmail' (see section 3) If you are based outside of the UK use a local ISP to save on call charges. Go to section 2 for set-up information
 

Section 1

If you want to use the new hotchilli dial up service (from the UK or temporarily aboard)

1. Go to Start, Programs then Accessories, Communications, Dial up networking (On Windows XP go to the new connection wizard and follow the on screen steps)

2.Enter the information below. For connections from abroad set up a new connection with the international phone number. 

Dial Up Access Telephone Number : 0845 055 1855
International Access Telephone Number: +44 161 606 0699.
Username : hotdial
Password : bx1234

3.Click OK and return to the desktop. For more information on the dial up see:

4.Click Start, Programs, then Outlook Express.

5.In Outlook Express Click Tools then Account

6.Click on the Mail tab.

7.Click Add then Mail. on the pullout

8."Name" should be your name

9."E-mail address" should be your email address @yourdomain.co.uk.
eg: support@digitalvisual.net

10."My incoming mail server is a POP3 server" should be set to POP3.

11.Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server: should be pop.yourdomain.com(or co.uk)

12.Outgoing mail (SMTP) server should be smtp.yourdomain.com(or co.uk)
(This will only work if you dial up through the dial up. If you want to use your ISP follow Section 2)

13.Your account name is your email address

14.For your password see the admin area http://webadmin.hotchilli.net:4718 and set up passwords for each account. Log in with catchall@yourdomain.com(or co.uk)

15.Click Finish - Your account is now set up.


Settings to check

1.Click Start, Programs, then Outlook Express.

2.Click Tools then Account

3.Click on the Mail tab.

4.Highlight your main email account and click Properties

Include this account when doing a full Send and Receive should be ticked.

Note: If "My incoming mail server is a POP3 server" is not set to POP3 you will be unable to send/receive mail. You will need to remove the mail account and re-create it.

Log on using Secure Password Authentication and My server requires authentication should not be ticked.

Click on the Connection tab

Always connect to this account using should be left unticked

On the Security tab  - Nothing on this screen should be ticked unless you use secure certificates.

Click the Advanced tab

"Outgoing mail (SMTP):" should be set to 25.

Incoming mail (POP3):" should be set to 110.

The two instances of This server requires a secure connection (SSL). should not be ticked.

If you wish to just check your messages and leave copies of messages to be downloaded on your main computer check the box Leave a copy of messages on server


Click Ok, Then Close.
 

Section 2

If you want to use your existing dial up account (such as btinternet or telewest etc) Please note AOL is not supported with Hotchilli but is supported by our Simply hosting packages

Outlook Express 5 Mail settings:

Before you begin you need to gather some information. If you are going to use the Hotchilli dial up (see above) please follow section 1.

1.Click Start, Programs, then Outlook Express.

2.Click Tools then Account

3.Click on the Mail tab.

4.Highlight your main email account and click Properties

5.Click on Servers tab

6.Write down the information in the Outgoing mail SMTP: box (eg. mail.yourisp.com) Write down the Account name and remember your password (the password field will be protected but it will show the number of characters)

7.Close the box and return to the box 'Internet accounts'

8.Click Add then Mail. on the pullout

9."Name" should be your name

10."E-mail address" should be your email address firstname.surname@yourdomain.com

11."My incoming mail server is a POP3 server" should be set to POP3.

12.Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP server: should be pop.yourdomain.com

13.Outgoing mail (SMTP) server depends on your ISP. Insert the information that you wrote down NOTE: If you use the Hotchilli dial up settings will smtp.hotchilli.net

14.Your account name is your email address

15.For your password see the admin area http://webadmin.hotchilli.net:4718 and set up passwords for each account. Log in with catchall@yourdomain.com(or co.uk)

16.Click Finish - Your account is now set up.
 

Section 3

This system is automatically set up for all of your email addresses. Use this system if you do not wish to set up an email account on your computer, or you are on someone else's PC. This will work from any computer connected to the internet and will work in conjunction with your email set up on Outlook or Outlook express.

Open a web browser and go to http://webmail.hotchilli.co.uk

Log in using your email address and your password

Remember to Logout when you have finished

Email Setup for Digital Visual Customers Through Simply.com (PC only)

As part of your Email hosting you have access to a SMTP server whoever you use to dial up to the internet. This makes setting up your email relatively easy.
 

Section 1

1.Click Start, Programs, then Outlook Express.

2.In Outlook Express Click Tools then Account

3.Click on the Mail tab.

4.Click Add then Mail. on the pullout

5."Name" should be your name

6."E-mail address" should be your email address@yourdomain.co.uk.
eg: myname@digitalvisual.net

7."My incoming mail server is a POP3 server" should be set to POP3.

8.Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server: should be mail.yourdomain.com(or co.uk)

9.Outgoing mail (SMTP) server should be  mail.yourdomain.com(or co.uk)

10.Your account name is the bit before the @ in your email address. eg. for myname@digitalvisual.net the username is "support"

11.For your password see the admin area you were allocated when we registered your domain name for you. Your settings may have been copies to yourdomain.com/admin

15.Click Finish - Your account is now set up.

4.Highlight your main email account and click Properties
